Like everything else in this book, this is a suggestion. There are many good models for a church covenant out there. The idea is to agree together, as a local church body, to work toward a set of spiritual goals. Members should be held accountable, both to God and to others in the congregation, for keeping their promises or pledges. Someone in the congregation should take on the role of reminding people periodically of what they agreed to do. Don't press people for individual responses, but encourage testimonies of how the Lord is at work. Make enough copies of the covenant, whatever one you decide on, for each family in the church. Put a copy of your signed covenant on your church bulletin board, or some place where everyone can see it. Strongly encourage new members, if they're old enough to understand, to sign the covenant as well.
We, the undersigned members of Church, do agree and covenant before the Lord this day to undertake, with his help through his Holy Spirit, to do the following, for so long as we are members of this church:
To read and study the Bible on a daily basis, for a period of not less than thirty (30) minutes each day..
To pray for ourselves, our church, our community, our nation, our leaders, our families, and such needs as the Lord may bring before us, for at least fifteen minutes a day.
To faithfully join in the fellowship of believers in worship for every scheduled service, unless providentially hindered.
To participate in the ministry of the church in whatever way the Lord enables us, according as he has apportioned his gifts.
To support the Lord's work financially according as he has blessed us, with our tithes and offerings.
To participate in the visitation program we may establish, either by taking part in visits, or by praying for those involved in visitation, or by suggesting names of those who would benefit from a visit.
To support, by gifts of time and money, any missions program, local, national, or foreign, that our church may agree to support.
To perform acts of kindness and courtesy toward those we meet in our day to day walk.
Standing on the promise of our Lord Jesus that he is in our midst when two or more of us are gathered in his name, we affix our names beneath, in his presence, as our promise and vow to him, and to each other, this day of , .
