Keyword Study on Faith

Psalms 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

God never deserts us, when we have faith in him.

Ps 56:3 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. 4 In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

When we have faith in God, we need not be afraid.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Faith in God means we don’t rely on our own judgment and abilities.

Habakkuk 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

Unlike those of the world, who live by their own pride, the just, those who serve God, live by faith in him.

Matthew 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Since God takes care of his material creation, we should have faith that he will meet our needs as well.

Matthew 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

If we are fearful in times of crisis and trouble, we show that our faith is in our small abilities, not in God.  Fear cannot exist where there is faith, and the reverse is also true.

Matthew 9:22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Healing is always accompanied by the exercise of faith, by the ones who pray, and / or by the recipient of the prayer..

Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

A small amount of faith in our great God can accomplish what seems impossible.

Luke 5:20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

Forgiveness and healing can come for someone through the faith of others.

Luke 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Christ prays for us, as he did for Peter, that our faith would not fail in times of crisis.

Acts 3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

Faith in the name of Jesus has great power.

Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

We are sanctified, set apart for God’s purposes, by faith.

Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Our sins are paid for through faith in the birth of Christ, his crucifixion as the sacrifice for our sins, and his resurrection that we might have life as well.

Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

We are made right in God’s eyes by faith in Christ, not by anything we do, such as following a set of rules or laws.

Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

We are righteous in God’s eyes only through faith in Christ.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We can’t have faith unless we learn about the object of our faith, in the word of God.

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

We aren’t to measure ourselves by our own abilities, but by the faith God has given us.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

We don’t make decisions, and act, based on just what see with our eyes, or hear with our ears, but by faith in God.

Galatians 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Faith works through godly love, not by works or deeds.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Even the faith by which we are saved is a gift of God.

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Faith protects us from attacks by Satan and those who serve him.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The classic definition of faith, the confident assurance of the reality and truth of God’s word, even though we have never seen Christ, the object of our faith.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

We can’t please God by doing good works, only by faith in Jesus Christ, and belief in what he promises.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus is the one responsible for our having faith to begin with, and having faith that continues to the end.

James 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Faith that is tried by circumstances grows stronger, just like muscles that are exercised, and the result is patience.

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Faith must have both an object, and results.

1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

The quality of our faith has great value in God’s eyes, and carries ultimate rewards at the coming of Christ.

1 Peter 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

The ultimate goal or object or our faith is our salvation.
