He Rode on a Donkey

By Gary W Cavendish

(2000)

On Sunday, he sat upon a donkey,

And rode into the city close behind us.

The people heard about his coming

And crowded in the streets so they could see him.

Hosanna, glory to the highest,

Blessed be the only Son of David.”

They were waving palm branches

And singing and dancing

And casting their garments before him.

The leaders rebuked him

But he said the stones would

Rise up and sing if they kept silent.

The next day, he drove the thieves in the temple away

In holy anger.

All the priests turned on him and were waiting their chance to take his life.

Then Judas came and offered them a real good deal

He would tell them when to strike for a few coins, and then

Thursday night, we all shared in the Passover meal

Jesus taught us to serve but he warned us that one

Soon would betray him.

Then Judas left though we didn’t know what it meant

But he didn’t return.
