Chorus
She washed his feet with a river of tears
And dried them off with long strands of her hair.
Then she anointed his feet with perfume
All that she had she gave as an offering.
He walked into the room from a dusty street
But no one came to loose his shoes or wash his feet
His host received him as he would an enemy
And the smile that touched his mouth was not in his eyes
(Chorus)
The woman found him when he reclined to eat
And she wept as she looked at signs of contempt
She had no basin or towel to clean his feet
So she gave him what she had, not counting the cost
(Chorus)
The host rebuked her, as did his disciples, too,
Such a waste to use perfume to wash his feet.
But he defended her act of sacrifice
As a loving gift that men would not forget.
