I spent the night in weeping, beset with fear
His voice broke through my sadness, he dried my tears
Sometime in the morning the sun broke through
Jesus understands the storms of life;
When all we see is bitter days of strife.
He guides us through the darkness to the light
He doesn't promise sunshine with no rain
He doesn't offer joy that's free of pain
Still the hope he offers has no price
Salvation takes our death and gives us life.
We lose a precious loved one, or dearest friend,
We question why a life should reach its end
With so much left unfinished here below.
Why do days unending dissolve in pain?
Why should we face the loss of all we've gained?
He's our only answer, our supply.
"I never will forsake you, or leave you,"
He won't desert his children, his word is true.
So turn your eyes to Jesus, and trust in Him.
Give him all your burdens, and your pain.
