DAYS OF SUMMER
By Gary W Cavendish
I remember days of summer
When I first met my future lover.
Excited thoughts of what might happen
Filled my mind as though enchanted.
Far she came to me a stranger
Yet something in my spirit claimed her
As a long-awaited answer
To a prayer I ceased to utter.
What some would call coincidence
Must have been a careful plan
For never would we two have met
In a world left up to chance.
She who is my wife and lover
The one our little girl calls “Mother”
Fills my every need and longing
And she must find no less in me.
