WIND SONG
By Gary W Cavendish
Ca. 1972
Sit as the wind blows wild through the trees
Scatters like clouds the brown winter leaves;
Wet like the morning, all smothered with dew
Passing like thunder from a hot afternoon.
Light shines on gray clouds and gathers the day –
Sunshine in whispers of thoughts far away;
Mood-passing thoughts weaving riddles of spring,
And promise of splendor morning time brings.
Pause in the breath, the wind-maker’s sigh,
Chill light and shiver of threatening sky;
Walk in the evening and hurried reply
To friendship’s lost memory, so swift passing by.
